Information

Rec Hockey falls under the Play Hockey Model developed by Hockey Alberta. 

The Play Hockey Model ensures families have access to affordable, fun, and safe opportunities to participate in youth hockey with a moderate to low time and financial commitment.

 

Age Categories 

  • U8  (DOB: 2018, 2019, 2020) ages 5-7
  • U11 (DOB: 2015, 2016, 2017) ages 8-10
  • U14 (DOB: 2012, 2013, 2014) ages 11-13
  • U18 (DOB: *2008, 2009, 2010, 2011) ages 14-18 (the intention is for those turning 18 during the season and still in school to play) 
  • Note: Underage players may move up if at the appropriate skill level and maturity. Players that are overage will be assessed on a case by case basis if in a younger age category. However, every effort should be made to play within their age group even if they are in a transitional year.
