Register for Rec Hockey

Welcome to the Registration page for Rocky Trail Blazers Rec Hockey. If you're ready to take your hockey skills to the next level or just looking to have some fun on the ice, you're in the right place.

Registration Deadline

  • Registration deadline: August 15th, 2026. A late fee will be assessed after this date.
  • Please note that registration will be on a first come, first serve basis.

General Requirements

  • One parent/guardian must hold a valid Respect in Sport - Parent Certificate. Please select Rocky Rec Hockey when prompted for organization. The program takes ~1 hour, 20 minutes to complete.
  • A Hockey Canada Registry (HCR#) is required to register your child in hockey. You can create this number under as shown in this document - hcr number guide - play hockey model.pdf.
  • Please contact registrar.trailblazer@gmail.com if you have difficulty obtaining this number and the Registrar will provide the appropriate assistance.
    • If your child has previously played in organized hockey, the registrar (registrar.trailblazer@gmail.com) will be able to locate the HCR number and if necessary facilitate a transfer request between organizations.
  • All fees must be paid in full prior participating.
  • Parents are expected to contribute by managing the score clock, selling raffle tickets, and volunteering during our annual tournament.
  • Players who have not returned jerseys from the previous season will:

    • Have their registration put on hold until the jersey is returned or reimbursement is provided. This may result in losing their spot on the team.

    • Not have any transfer requests to other organizations processed until the jersey is returned or reimbursement is provided.

Age Groups

  • U8  (DOB: 2019, 2020, 2021) ages 5-7
  • U11 (DOB: 2016, 2017, 2018) ages 8-10
  • U13 (DOB: 2014, 2015) ages 11-12
  • U15 (DOB: 2012, 2013) ages 13-14
  • U18 (DOB: *2009, 2010, 2011) ages 15-18 (the intention is for those turning 18 during the season and still in school to play)
  • Note: Underage players may move up if at the appropriate skill level and maturity. Players that are overage will be assessed on a case by case basis if in a younger age category. However, every effort should be made to play within their age group even if they are in a transitional year.

Fees

  • Fees - TBD

Rocky Minor Hockey Association

  • Rocky Trail Blazers operates independent of Rocky Minor Hockey Association as an alternative for families or participants who wish to play hockey with less commitment at an affordable price. Both organizations fall under Hockey Alberta but in separate streams, meaning that players would not be able to be affiliated or freely move between 'Rec' and "Minor'. Once registering for a season, the only way a player would be able to participate in the other stream is if the family quit the stream they were in and registered in the other.
  • A comparison of the program types can be found on our Information Page.
  • Those previously registered in Minor or Rec hockey and changing between organizations are required to request a change through the organization they are registering with:
