Coach Information

To coach with Rocky Trail Blazers you will require the following: 

1. Vulnerable Sector check every three years (mandatory) -see attachments with letter application below 
2. Shift Forward - Team Official Course (Mandatory)  - To complete this training a Hockey Canada Registration number (HCR#) is required. Please reach out to registrar.trailblazers@gmail.com for either confirming or obtaining your number. The 'Respect in Sport - ACTIVITY LEADER' course will be honoured until expiry (valid for 3 years) in lieu of the 'Shift Forward - Team Official' course.
3. Hockey Canada Safety Program - Level 1 (online) (one coach per team to complete) 
4. Coach 1 (for those coaching U8)  
   1. Online component  on-demand (ALL coaches to complete) - see image below and select Hockey Alberta and Coach (circled in green)
   2. In-person clinic   look for upcoming clinics normally held in early fall (at least one coach per team to complete)
5. Coach 2 (for those coaching U11-18)

   2. In-person clinic   look for upcoming clinics normally held in early fall (at least one coach per team to complete)
6. Application/ Interview with the General Manager or Assistant General Manager

*Only those that are registered as coaches may be on the ice due to insurance purposes. We welcome parent volunteers, however they need to be registered as an assistant coach, meet the pre-requisites, and be endorsed by the head coach of the team.
